Primary Care Trusts in England

The NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement has purchased Scenario Generator licenses for all Primary Care Trusts in England. Over 120 PCTs have now drawn down their license, and the offer is available until the end of June 2009.

Licenses are for life, and include free software updates until March 2010.

It is strongly recommended that users take up the offer of training to realise the benefits of using Scenario Generator for their organisation. The NHS Institute offer of training has now closed, but SIMUL8 Corp are offering, free of charge, a day’s introduction and initial training for all PCTs taking up their NHS Institute license before the end of June.

Scenario Generator is now available for purchase from SIMUL8 Corporation.

The cost of a license, including training and support for 1 year is £17,800.

Annual Maintenance: £3,600.

Note: for PCT users with the licenses funded by NHS Institute, your license is already covered by maintenance for the first 12 months, however you can make payments at any time to extend your maintenance beyond that date to ensure support and upgrades continue automatically at today’s prices.

NEW PRODUCT!! – Scenario Generator Pathway Developer

We have just launched a new product only available to Scenario Generator license holders.

The Scenario Generator Pathway Developer is a cut down version of the full Scenario Generator, which allows users to develop and draw their care pathway, and to determine how events flow through a healthcare system. This tool can be used by service design teams or clinical programme groups to develop their pathway. The resulting model can then be plugged into the organisation’s full Scenario Generator to run scenarios.

Our introductory offer for this product is £350 for 1 license or £1000 for 5 licenses.

The Scenario Generator Network License

Scenario Generator enables health care managers to design new efficient ways of running processes so it’s really important it is available to as many people in your organisation as possible. The Network License Edition makes this really cost effective.

The Scenario Generator Network License works in the same way as most software network licenses. Everyone in your organisation can have access to The Scenario Generator via their PC but the maximum number of people who can use it simultaneously is automatically limited by the software itself to the number of network licenses you have purchased. When a user attempts to open the software at a time when all licenses are in use they see a message explaining that all the licenses are busy and they will need to wait until one becomes available.

As Scenario Generator is an application used for specific analysis, it is not used all day every day and so it makes sense to share licenses across time. So with, for example, 5 licenses on a network it is likely that 25 or more people could be very significant users of the tool and hardly ever see occasions when they need to wait to obtain a license.

What if I need to work away from the network (for example on a laptop in a remote office without network access)? The Scenario Generator Network License has a “check out” facility. Simply open the software while the laptop is connected to the network and use the “Work away from Network” menu. Close the software and that license is allocated to you and on your laptop until you return to the network and select the option to re-share that license.

Pricing

The cost of one Scenario Generator Network License is 1.2 x the normal license price (so 1.2 x £17,800 = £21,360). The minimum number of licenses to set up a network license is currently just one (although with our other products this is 5 and we reserve the right to increase the minimum after the initial roll out of Scenario Generator). If your organisation already owns Scenario Generator licenses these can be added to the network license for the cost of 0.2 x the normal price x the number of licenses to add. This option is not available until you have purchased at least one network license unit at the 1.2 price.

Technical information for IT personnel

The Scenario Generator Network License hardware/software requirements are exactly the same as those for the normal stand-alone desktop license (LINK) except that the client PC needs (at installation time and to obtain an initial license) network access to a shared file server that already exists within your organisation and to which end users have read/write access. The shared file space requirement is less than 1K and no software needs to be installed on the server. Bandwidth usage is only a few bytes of traffic as the software starts up and shuts down.
